Janine Galpin is a registered psychologist with more than 20 years’ experience working with children and adolescents. At May Health, she provides psychoeducational assessments for primary and secondary school students, university students, and adults in the workforce. Janine also provides psychological therapy for children, adolescents, and young adults, supporting them with concerns such as negative thinking, anxiety, depression, and other emotional or behavioural difficulties. She has extensive experience working with families and students with disabilities and learning differences, offering psychoeducation and drawing on evidence-based interventions to foster resilience and coping skills.
Her therapeutic approach includes modalities such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), with interventions adapted to the needs of each individual.
Janine holds a Bachelor of Psychology, having completed studies at Macquarie University, The University of Western Australia, and Edith Cowan University. Her academic background began in arts and education at Flinders University before progressing to psychology. She initially registered with the South Australian Psychology Board and later transitioned to national registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Her experience spans a range of educational settings in South Australia and New South Wales, as well as work with agencies supporting children with disabilities.
Janine is also a Board-Approved Supervisor, providing supervision to provisional psychologists as they work toward registration.
Outside of her professional work, Janine has raised three sons and enjoys spending time with family and friends. She has a long-standing interest in the arts and regularly attends galleries, concerts, and theatre. Now based in South Australia, she enjoys beach walks, visiting wineries, and dining out.
