Mental Health General Practice

General Practitioners play an important role in the assessment, treatment, and ongoing management of mental health. At May Health, our doctors practise within a multidisciplinary mental health clinic, working alongside psychologists, counsellors, assessment clinicians, dietitians, and mental health nurse practitioners to provide thoughtful, evidence-informed care.

Our doctors are fully qualified General Practitioners whose clinical work at May Health is focused on mental health. This includes mental health assessment, ADHD assessment and treatment, medication management, Mental Health Treatment Plans, Focused Psychological Strategies (FPS), and ongoing mental health care.

For many patients, medical care also serves as an entry point to other services available within May Health. Where appropriate, our doctors work collaboratively with other clinicians across the clinic to help ensure patients receive coordinated and well-integrated care.

May Health is not a traditional general practice.

Rather than providing comprehensive general medical care, our doctors have chosen to focus their clinical work on mental health within a multidisciplinary environment designed specifically for this area of practice. This model allows closer collaboration between medical and allied health professionals while supporting continuity of care for patients.

Patients attending May Health are encouraged to maintain an ongoing relationship with their regular General Practitioner for comprehensive general medical care, preventative healthcare, chronic disease management, vaccinations, and other non-mental health concerns.

Our General Practitioners may be appropriate if you are seeking:

• ADHD assessment, diagnosis, or treatment.
• Assessment and medical management of common mental health concerns.
• Medication review and ongoing prescribing for mental health conditions.
• Mental Health Treatment Plans.
• Medical care delivered within a collaborative multidisciplinary mental health clinic.
