Adult ADHD Group Treatment Program

About the Program

Receiving an ADHD diagnosis in adulthood can bring clarity as well as new questions. This group program is designed to support adults in the early stages of understanding their diagnosis, offering a structured space to explore symptoms, reflect on experiences, and consider practical strategies for daily life. Sessions combine clinical input, peer discussion, and lived experience to support learning and self-reflection.

The eight-week program is offered in person in North Adelaide and online for interstate or rural participants. It covers four key areas: psychology, medicine, dietetics, and relationships. Groups are small — up to six participants in person and up to ten online — to support engagement and allow time for individual reflection within a group setting.

The program is overseen by Dr Emilie Staehr, a general practitioner with experience in mental health and personal lived experience of ADHD. She provides clinical guidance to ensure the program aligns with a biopsychosocial–cultural understanding of the condition and considers its impact on daily routines, relationships, identity, and wellbeing.

This program offers reliable information, guided discussion, and practical tools. Whether attending online or in person, participants are provided with a consistent framework to deepen their understanding of ADHD and explore approaches that may assist in everyday life.

Program Overview

This program is designed for adults who are newly diagnosed with ADHD and beginning to understand and integrate their diagnosis. Across eight weeks, participants explore what the diagnosis means for them, how it may influence daily life, and ways to develop clarity and direction as they navigate ongoing care.

Each module combines education, multidisciplinary perspectives, and lived experience. Topics include executive functioning, treatment options, sleep, time management, eating behaviours, emotional regulation, and relationships. The structure allows time for both learning and reflection, with a focus on considering how concepts may apply in day-to-day contexts.

All participants receive a Practical Companion and worksheet pack developed by Dr Emilie Staehr to support engagement between sessions. A selection of these materials is shown below.
