Nicholas is a registered psychologist at May Health who works with adults to support their mental health and wellbeing.
Nicholas Ghan is a registered psychologist who supports adults with a wide range of mental health and wellbeing concerns. He works collaboratively with clients to develop a shared understanding of their difficulties, establish meaningful therapeutic goals, and formulate an approach tailored to each individual. Nicholas adopts a holistic perspective, considering the biological, psychological, and social factors that may influence wellbeing.
Nicholas believes that a strong therapeutic relationship is important for effective therapy. He is a warm and empathetic clinician who listens attentively and responds with compassion and without judgement, providing a safe and supportive environment in which clients can explore their experiences and concerns.
He works with a broad range of presentations, including anxiety, depression, adjustment difficulties, social anxiety, anger, perfectionism, emotional regulation challenges, grief and loss, interpersonal and relationship difficulties, phobias, obsessive–compulsive disorder, low self-esteem, trauma, and stress.
Nicholas draws on a range of evidence-based therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness-based approaches, Schema Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.
Nicholas completed his Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) with First Class Honours and his Master of Psychology (Clinical) at the University of Adelaide. He is registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). His academic experience includes co-authoring research papers and presenting at conferences on topics such as resilience and life transitions.
Outside of work, Nicholas serves as a field umpire for the South Australian National Football League (SANFL), enjoys golf, movies, and sport, and has previously volunteered with Lifeline.
